A not so quick sketch of the opening ceremony for a sacred sand mandala that’s being created this weekend down the street by Tibetan monks. It’s a fund raiser for the Sera Je school that trains Tibetan refugee children in the language, culture and traditions of Tibet.
Much of this is done from short term memory as the opening ceremony took a few minutes and I worked an hour and a half on this. Too long or no time at all depending on how you think about it. I added some pen strokes for definition after I got home but am not so sure that was a great idea.
Anyway, the monks and I had a good laugh over the sketch, they took a bunch of photos and, if I receive a copy of one, I’ll add it here later.
