I’m checking with my brother on the character to the right. As I scribbled on the page, I’m taking a guess that the character is a variant of “spirit” and may describe a form or function of a human being in the landscape.
As my guess is based on nothing but visual relationships of characters, I’ll wait and see.
I’ve been becoming fascinated with the nervous energy of my marks. There’s a longer, related story of teaching a group of octogenarians, all unsteady in one way or another, and the work they did in my watercolor workshop. That related story will have to wait for another time.
