Late Tuesday afternoon into the early evening, I sat in Duke Chapel and drew in pencil for hours. Working only with graphite in dim light, I spent a load of time doing very little. It was a tremendously calming experience and I truly needed just that.
In fact, I was making such little progress that when the ensemble walked in for their warm up, I was able to incorporate them into the slow poke drawing. While, I might add, I was experiencing the great fortune (and privilege) of a private audience in the empty chapel.
A perk of taking life extra slowly.
